Disc Golf Meetups for Employees

Join Rec Sports and Hokie Wellness for an evening round of Disc Golf. We'll meet at the Virginia Tech Golf Course's Clubhouse. All levels of experience are welcomed, and the event is free to Virginia Tech employees. We will have a few discs to borrow, but bringing your own discs is encouraged.

Pickleball Meetups for Employees

Join Rec Sports and Hokie Wellness at the pickleball courts on Washington Street for some summer pickleball fun! Meetups will be hosted July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. On the 30th, an optional tournament will be held for anyone who wishes to participate.

Freedom Fitness Challenge

Celebrate our freedom while also having the freedom to move however you want. Current Physical Activity Guidelines recommend adults get 150 minutes of activity each week. That’s just 30 min./day, 5 days a week or 22 min./day 7 days a week. Rec Sports is challenging you to join us in this goal from July 1st to July 21.

How it works: Each day you are active, log it in our Strava Club and if you reach 150 minutes by the end of each week, we will have some swag for you!

Familiarize yourself with the Rec Sports facilities by grabbing a self-guided tour map and exploring what McComas Hall and War Memorial Hall have to offer!

Yoga Class

Begin your day with a quick 30-min yoga practice that is designed for all levels of yoga experience. Feel free to bring your own mat or towel. No Group Exercise membership or pre-sign up is required. Exclusive Rec Sports Tank tops will be given out to the first 50 to arrive.

F45 Workout

Join this high energy F45 workout! F stands for functional and 45 is the length of time of the workout. No Group Exercise Membership or pre-sign up is required. Exclusive Rec Sports tank tops will be given to all who attend.

Boot Camp Workout

Join this group workout and learn how to use the cool features of the Prairie Quad Fitness Park. Exclusive Rec Sports tank tops will be given out to the first 20 participants to arrive. No Group Exercise Membership or pre-sign up is required. First come, first served.

Welcome Week Challenge Course Open Recreation

Kick off the school year by challenging yourself on the Venture Out Challenge Course. We implement a "challenge-by-choice" principle so that individuals can chose their level of participation and difficulty throughout the course. The challenge course has a weight limit of 250 pounds. Pre-registration required!

August 24

Run Club "No Drop Run"

Join the Virginia Tech XC and Track and Field Club for a social run on the Huckleberry Trail, choosing from 3, 4, or 5-mile routes. Runners will meet at the Rec Sports Field House at 9AM. A free pair of running shoes and other prizes will be raffled off, thanks to our sponsor, Runabout Sports!

Party on the Greens

Come out to the VT golf clubhouse to enjoy live music, free pizza, shaved ice, mocktails and iced coffee. Enjoy putt-putt, yard games, disc golf, and more.

RecFest is more than just an event - it’s a chance to experience the vibrant spirit of the Hokie community and renovated War Memorial Hall. 2-Week Running Programs

We're excited to share two running programs that will get you off the couch and ready to enjoy running! Beginner and intermediate programs are offered and provide a 14-day training schedule to work up to running a 5K.

Hokie Fit Online Training

A free 2-week training program that includes a workout plan and tutorial videos for each workout.

Virtual Group Exercise Membership

Virginia Tech students and employees can purchase a membership that grants live-stream access to group exercise classes.
