James Douglas McComas

The student health and fitness facility is named for James Douglas McComas, University President from 1988 to 1994.

The late president emphasized undergraduate education, kept an open door for students, recruited National Merit Scholars, and personally advised several undergraduates.

McComas Hall also houses the Schiffert Health Center and Hokie Wellness.
