Social Media Manager - Marketing

The Recreational Sports Marketing Team is hiring a passionate and talented social media manager. The social media manager will work with the rest of the team to help promote the six areas of Recreational Sports – aquatics, fitness + wellness, intramural sports, sport clubs, open recreation, and outdoor recreation (Venture Out) – with the goal of getting our campus moving. The social media manager will come up with creative and innovative ways to reach students to inform them about the programs, events, and services offered by Recreational Sports. The social media manager will come up with plans to cover Recreational Sports events. The goal of the social media manager is to increase likes and followers, increase engagement, and reach students currently not engaged with Recreational Sports on social media.

The social media manager will:

  • Maintain office hours (8-10 hours/week)
  • Be present at special events on nights and weekends
  • Act as an engaged member of the team by being present, enthusiastic, and focused
  • Be a loud and active ambassador of, and cheerleaders for, Recreational Sports
  • Craft and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for Recreational Sports
  • Evaluate and analyze the department's social media and come up with new ideas
  • Initiate creative ways to represent Recreational Sports in the digital realm
  • Develop the voice of the department on social media
  • Research, implement, and recommend new social media promotions
  • Help maintain and update the Recreational Sports website

Other expectations:

  • Participate in professional development opportunities within the department, on campus, at conferences and workshops
  • Attend the Recreational Sports Marketing Team retreat, supervisor training, and other applicable workshops

Minimum qualifications and requirements:

  • Experience managing social media accounts; preferably for a business or organization
  • Experience managing multiple accounts at once
  • Excited about working for Recreational Sports
  • Have a basic understanding of what Recreational Sports does

Preferred qualifications and requirements:

  • Studying marketing, communications, public relations, HNFE, or related field
  • Working knowledge of content management system for websites
