Housekeeper

Position Description:

The housekeeper position is a part of the Recreational Sports operations team and is responsible for, but not limited to cleaning recreational facility spaces and equipment such as locker rooms, restrooms, basketball courts, fitness equipment, and outdoor spaces including the sport club and intramural field complex as well as the Venture Out Center. The position requires the ability to adopt pro-active strategies to help advance the department’s safety and risk management initiatives in order to create a positive and safe environment. The ability to promote the department’s mission of health and well-being is also required, as is the ability to advance the department’s commitment to inclusivity, and to meeting the ever-changing needs of a diverse student population. In addition, Recreational Sports consistently strives to create inclusive and welcoming environments, and to promote the importance of well-being and physical activity to all patrons.

Work Schedule: This position works on a shift schedule. The schedule is set at the beginning of the semester and repeats weekly. There is a substitution policy for employees who develop a conflict with one of their shifts. The current scheduled openings for this position are evening shifts from 6-10pm, Monday-Sunday.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled at Virginia Tech.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping methods and practices.
  • The ability to analyze, be precise; and read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certifications or the ability to obtain certifications within 30 day of employment.

Pay Rates:

Working Rate - $11.50
